Don't panic
It's unlikely that our servers have died! Please check the following first:
http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/
just type your domain name into the site above, and it will check if your site is reachable from their location. If your site is reported as being UP, then the rest of the world can see your site. The problem is most likely:
- somewhere between your incoming broadband/phone socket and your computer (Please try shutting everything down, powering your equipment off, waiting a few minutes, and turning it back on again - I know it's a bit of a cliche but it often works!)
- a temporary routing issue between your ISP and our datacentre (usually self fixes within a few minutes)
If your site is reported as being DOWN, then by all means contact us immediately!
If you still can't connect after observing the above
It may be that your IP address has become blocked from our servers. This can happen because:
- you have entered the wrong password too many times when trying to use any of our services. After 5 bad logins you will be temporarily blocked for around 30 minutes. If you are repeatedly blocked temporarily, you will become permanently blocked and will need to contact us, providing your IP address.
- you have been collecting mail too frequently from our POP3 servers. We allow 60 logins per hour for a mailbox. This is to limit the overall load on our servers which manage thousands of mailboxes. Once you use up your 60 connections, your IP address becomes temporarily blocked until the hour is up.
